笹岡啓子個展「Anglers in Landscapes」

ニコンプラザ新宿 フォト・プロムナード“Anglers in Landscapes” 私はいつも釣り人たちに導かれるように磯へ出る。そうやって、気がつけば20年余り、日本各地の海岸線や稜線を歩いてきた。
山の高さや傾斜は、そのまま麓の海の深さを示すという。だから海を眺めることはその背後の山を仰ぐことに近しく、山を歩くことはその川が注ぐ海を知ることに連なっていく。
この時代の海と陸とを撮っている。当然、それは大昔に誕生し、変動を繰り返しながら現在に至ったものだ。その海と陸、過去と未来の狭間に私たちが立っていたことを残しておきたい。この山の稜線はいつの日か波の打ち寄せる岸壁になっているかもしれない。この磯はやがて陸地になり、未来の人々が暮らす土地になっているかもしれない。その時、彼らにとってこれらの写真が、化石や地層のような発見であったとしたら嬉しいと思う。

It is said that the height and slope of a mountain reveal the depth of the sea at its foot. To gaze at the sea, then, is akin to looking up at the mountains behind it; and to walk the mountains is to come to know the sea into which their rivers flow.
I photograph the sea and the land of this era. Of course, they were born in the distant past, transformed again and again to arrive at the present. I want to leave a record that we once stood between sea and land, between past and future. One day the ridgeline of this mountain may become a cliff where the surf breaks. One day this shore may become dry land, a place where people of the future make their lives. If, for them, these photographs might serve as discoveries—like fossils or strata—I would be glad.
